Moving mountains. The Swiss Alpen Club SAC joins together all those interested in mountain pursuits from all over Switzerland – whatever their age, sex, religion, language or origin.Since it was founded in 1863, the SAC has played a formative role in the development of the alpine region and alpinism. On the basis of this tradition, the club supports responsible mountain sports and broadly free access to the mountain world.The SAC promotes mountain sports as a valuable pursuit for a wide range of people, and strongly supports sustainable development and conservation of mountain regions; this is the essential basis for mountain sports.
